On 25 November the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York was witness to a unique event when Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom had a screening hosted by super band, U2 and American Vogue’s Editor in Chief, Anna Wintour with the actors, Idris Elba and Naomie Harris, director Justin Chadwick and special guest, Nelson Mandela’s daughter Zenani in attendance.

Speaking after the film, Zenani Mandela commented, “I am pleased that U2 have written this beautiful song, ‘Ordinary Love’ for Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom. Bono and the band have been supporters of my father and the 46664 campaign for many years and I am delighted that they hosted the screening tonight together with Anna Wintour.”

Producer Anant Singh said, “We thank Zenani for representing the South African team at the screening last night. The venue of The Ziegfeld Theatre is of special significance to us and to Zenani as she was with Madiba when he was the guest of honour at the benefit screening of ‘Cry, The Beloved Country’ for the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund which took place there 18 years ago.”

Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom will be released in South Africa on Thursday, 28 November 2013 followed by releases in other countries thereafter.
