July 13, 2010 – The South African Guild of Actors (SAGA) is proud to support “Bikers for Mandela Day”! July 18 is a special day for all South Africans and we wish the riders well on their journey in honour of Nelson Mandela. The message in performing 67 minutes of service and sacrifice is profound; that South Africa can lead this global initiative is significant. Once again we can demonstrate to the world that our nation is united by a spirit of fellowship and compassion for our fellow man.

We believe that all South Africans should heed this call to action and take ownership of the principles of Mandela Day, so that we can all live the spirit of service every day. SAGA is especially aware of the contribution of local celebrities and media personalities in announcing this call to action. Actors, presenters and musicians hold a special place in the hearts and minds of many South Africans, and many are considered role models by our youth. Their commitment to this initiative sets a wonderful example for all. We are convinced that local celebrities can only extend the reach and impact of the Mandela Day message!

SAGA wishes all “Bikers for Mandela Day” a safe and fulfilling journey! We are certain that this initiative will succeed in creating a groundswell of support and inspiring goodwill locally and internationally.
