March 6, 2010 – Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman has pledged the money raised from auctioning his specially made 46664 bangle to the Nelson Mandela Foundation.

Speaking last night on the Jay Leno Show, a popular talk show in the United States, Freeman said that he would donate the proceeds of the bangle to the Foundation after he had worn it to the Oscars tomorrow night.

Freeman, who has been nominated for an Oscar for an Actor in a Leading Role for his portrayal of Nelson Mandela in the film Invictus, had his bangle specially made for tomorrow’s ceremony by Coutts Inc, which manufactures the bangles for the Foundation’s sister organisation, 46664, of which Freeman is an ambassador.

Invictus tells the story of Nelson Mandela’s role in South Africa’s 1995 Rugby World Cup victory and the impact the victory had in uniting the nation after the first democratic elections held in the country in 1994.

Designed by Rael Kahn, Coutts designer, Freeman’s 46664 bangle features spectacular Zambian emeralds and uses South African-produced 18k yellow gold and platinum.
