Invitation to Cover: Supporting Child-Headed Households to Combat Hunger
From: Nelson Mandela Foundation
Date of Publication: 4 November 2020

On Saturday 7 November the Nelson Mandela Foundation, Imbumba Foundation and Kolisi Foundation will distribute food packages to child-headed households in Tembisa. This is part of a strategy to fight the scourge of food insecurity in vulnerable communities.

The sustainability of the vast majority of South African households continues to be threatened by the triple challenge of pervasive poverty, inequality and unemployment. As COVID-19 is exacerbating this harsh reality, it is imperative that we remind ourselves that South Africa is a nation born out of solidarity. Our path to liberation was, and remains, people working together towards clear goals of justice and equality.

The Nelson Mandela Foundation, in collaboration with ABSA, would like to invite you to cover the #Each1Feed1 distribution at Thusong Children’s Home and Ubuhle Bezwe, Tembisa, Johannesburg.

#Each1Feed1 is an emergency relief food delivery initiative that seeks to assist vulnerable communities across South Africa. It is a flagship project for the Foundation’s Mandela Day campaign. Supported by multiple institutional stakeholders, funders and the public, its anchor partners are the Kolisi Foundation and the Imbumba Foundation.
