In 2008, a series of Community Conversations dialogues focusing on the youth were held around South Africa.
Dialogues were held in Kliptown, Gauteng; Soshanguve, Gauteng; Mhluzi, Mpumalanga; Lerome, North West; Giyani, Limpopo; Galeshewe, Northern Cape; KwaMakhutha, KwaZulu-Natal; Thaba Nchu, Free State; Mthatha, Eastern Cape; and KwaLanga, Western Cape.
The 10 dialogues followed on a series of similar dialogues staged in 2007, and mostly revisited those communities. More than 6 000 young people participated in the dialogues, which for the first time used the UN Development Programme's Community Capacity Enhancement (CCE) methodology.
