In the references on pages 89 to 104 of this book the Survey means the Race Relations Survey (previously Survey of Race Relations in South Africa), published by the South African Institute of Race Relations annually since 1936. The Surveys are referred to by the year under review, not the year of publication, which may be the following year. Race Relations News is the Institute's quarterly bulletin. References to Fast Facts are to a concise monthly publication dealing with current events, also published by the Institute.
