The Nelson Mandela Foundation has recently been made aware of another email scam doing the rounds.
Claiming to come from the South African National Lottery in partnership with the 2010 FIFA World Cup Local Organising Committee, the email tells the recipient that they have won the lottery, and asks a compulsory fee of £575 for the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund, which is required before the bank can deposit the winnings.
Please note that the Nelson Mandela Foundation and associated charities have no such agreement with the South African National Lottery or the 2010 FIFA World Cup Local Organising Committee, nor does the South African National Lottery ever ask for a payment to be made before winners can collect.
The Nelson Mandela Foundation does not send unsolicited emails. Any email asking for donations should be treated with suspicion.
