The Nelson Mandela Foundation is disturbed by the lethal raid of pro-democracy protesters that took place in Khartoum, Sudan, on the morning of the 9th of June. The Nelson Mandela Foundation condemns the violence and the killing of unarmed pro-democracy protesters in Khartoum by state security forces.

 The Nelson Mandela Foundation is encouraged by reports that protestors have re-engaged the Sudanese military in negotiations to find a peaceful settlement for the crises and call upon all parties involved in the crisis to pursue a transparent process of mediation and dialogue and to observe the sanctity of life and human rights.

 The Nelson Mandela Foundation stands by the principles and ideals of democracy and nonviolence and calls for a peaceful transition in Sudan.
