I was greatly saddened to learn of the death of President Mandela.
It was an honour and privilege to meet this remarkable man in my Senate Minority Leader’s office one year before he became President of South Africa.
Just six weeks ago, the Dole Institute awarded Mandela its Leadership Prize.
Mandela’s great grandson accepted the prize, which was given to the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory at the Nelson Mandela Foundation.
His nation – and, indeed, our world – mourns the loss of this great man.
