Today, 9 December 2013, representatives from LeadSA handed over a ceremonial wreath of flowers to the Nelson Mandela Foundation.

Speaking at the event, LeadSA head Yusuf Abramjee emphasised the need for young South Africans to pick up Nelson Mandela’s baton and do their part in making every day a Mandela Day.

“We believe that we have to keep his legacy alive and so we are encouraging the youth to be a part of the process, we are urging them to live by his legacy. Yes, there is a lot to do, but now is the time for all of us to unite.

Abramjee and representatives from Primedia Broadcasting and the Independent Group of Newspapers handed over the flower wreath to the Nelson Mandela Foundation CEO, Sello Hatang.

“The handover also signifies us taking the relationship between LeadSA and the Foundation forward. Over the years we have promoted Mandela Day, but now with Madiba’s passing we hope to make Mandela Day 2014 the biggest ever in the history of South Africa. That is what Madiba would have wanted – all South Africans making a difference to the lives of others, giving back to the community,” he said.

“We came here today to see how we can support the initiatives at the Centre of Memory and also try and get South Africans to celebrate his life and unite together in living his legacy.”
