From: Nelson Mandela Foundation
The Nelson Mandela Foundation in association with the Socio-Economic Rights Institute of South Africa (SERI) invites you to the 19 March 2019 launch of an exhibition titled ‘Insurgent Citizens – Reflections on protest in democratic South Africa’.
The exhibition explores the right to protest and represents in graphic and other forms the disturbingly high frequency of protests which have characterised South Africa over the last decade. It documents an extraordinary range of protest actions and campaigns. Key lines of enquiry include seeking to understand the high levels of anger to be found in South African society and confronting resilient forms of structural violence.
The keynote address will be given by former Public Protector Advocate Thuli Madonsela. The other speakers are Simamkele Dlakavu, Allan Ngari and Thulani Nkosi.
