Afrikaner Volksfront (Afrikaner People's Front AVF)

Formed in 1993, just before the democracy discussions began, the AVF was an umbrella body for several right-wing groups and was under the leadership of an ex-SADF* general, Constand Viljoen. The AV called for the establishment of a volkstaat, an exclusively Afrikaner territory where Afrikaners could retain their autonomy and culture. Viljoen's Freedom Front Party contested the 1994 election but gained little support.
