1887. Cape Parliamentary Registration Act

This "disfranchised thousands of Africans in the eastern Cape" (Simons & Simons 1969: 49) by excluding "tribal forms of tenure from the property qualifications for the vote" (Davenport 1987: 108). For specifications, see the CAPE CONSTITUTION of 1853 above. See also the GLEN GREY ACT of 1894.
