February 11, 2011 – Today marks Nelson Mandela’s release from prison 21 years ago.

In celebration of this day, representatives of the Nelson Mandela Foundation will join the mayor of Pietermaritzburg, dignitaries from KwaZulu-Natal and guests in launching “Intimate Moments with Nelson Mandela”; a multimedia exhibition that showcases cherished encounters with South Africa’s much loved statesman.

The exhibition celebrates the essence of each close encounter with Mr Mandela and has been themed according to three key concepts: Love, educate and empower.

The event includes a private viewing of “Intimate Moments with Nelson Mandela” before it opens to the public, as well as a screening of a DVD on Mr Mandela’s life.

Representatives from the Foundation and dignitaries from KwaZulu-Natal will entertain guests with speeches and personal anecdotes of intimate moments with Mr Mandela.

Members of the media are encouraged to join guests in celebrating this event.
