Statement regarding death of Zenani Mandela

Family appeals to mourn loss in dignity

June 13, 2010 – We have decided to issue this statement on behalf of the Mandela family to clarify the position regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Zenani Mandela on Friday.

The car involved in the accident on the M1 was driven by Sizwe Mankazana, 23. He is the son of Zwelakhe Mankazana, the partner of Zenani Mandela-Dlamini. The only passengers in the car were Zenani junior and a member of Sizwe’s family.

June 12, 2010 – Zenani Zanethemba Nomasonto Mandela was born at the Park Lane Clinic in Johannesburg on 9 June 1997.

The daughter of Zoleka Mandela-Seakamela and Casey Moyo, she was the granddaughter of Zindzi Mandela and the great-granddaughter of Nomzamo Winnie Madikizela-Mandela and Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela.

Mandela great-grandchild killed in car accident

June 11, 2010 – A grand-daughter of Zindzi Mandela has passed away in a car accident in the early hours of this morning.

Zenani Mandela, 13, was travelling in a car returning from the World Cup Kick-Off Concert at Orlando Stadium when the accident occurred. There was only one car involved and no one else was injured.
