July 2, 2010 – In a letter sent today to the President of the Ghana Football Association, Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi, Mr Nelson Mandela wrote:
“On the historic occasion of the first FIFA World Cup to be hosted in Africa, it is a great pleasure to see that Ghana has reached the quarter finals. We join everybody on the continent and in the diaspora in wishing you success in the tournament going forward.”

June 29, 2010 – The Nelson Mandela Foundation is concerned about rumours surfacing that there are negative sentiments arising towards non-nationals in South Africa.
We have seen South Africans unite around a common support for African teams during the 2010 FIFA World Cup™. We hope that this will lead to greater appreciation by South Africans of our place on this continent and that we will show greater solidarity with non-nationals. We have a common humanity to share and in many ways a common economic and social destiny and our Constitution guarantees the rights of all people in South Africa.

Hot topics emerge as main concerns at community conversations across South Africa

June 28, 2010 – During May and early June of this year a series of Nelson Mandela Foundation community conversations were held in towns representing six provinces across South Africa.
Common concerns emerging from some of these communities included drug and alcohol abuse, unprofessional treatment by clinic nurses and a shortage of clinic and medical staff.
