Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom SA film launch press conference

On 2 November 2013, the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory at the Nelson Mandela Foundation in Houghton, Johannesburg, hosted the official South African press conference for the much-anticipated movie rendition of Nelson Mandela’s autobiography, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.

The event saw members of the movie production crew and cast, trustees of the Nelson Mandela Foundation, and members of the Mandela family interact with media representatives and esteemed guests in an open discussion about the movie, Madiba’s life story and Mandela, the man.

Youth in Dialogue: video

A Youth in Dialogue event, part of the 11th Nelson Mandela Annual Lecture programme, was held on Sunday 18 August 2013 at the Maboneng Precinct in Johannesburg. Around 200 young South Africans and civil society stakeholders gathered at The Open in Johannesburg’s pulsing Maboneng Precinct to engage on the topic “Active Citizenship and Building Social Cohesion”.

Business in Dialogue: video

“Economic emancipation in Africa in building social cohesion” was the topic at the Business in Dialogue event held on 16 August at the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory. 

The event, hosted by the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory and Audi South Africa, was attended by about 100 top business and thought leaders from South Africa, and was a conversation about rebuilding social cohesion on the continent.

Women in Dialogue video: gender equality remains a pressing social issue

South Africa has made great strides in gender equality and is a model to other countries – yet gender inequality continues to impede its efforts to build social cohesion. This was a common thread throughout the interactive “Women in Dialogue” session hosted by the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory and the City of Tshwane at Freedom Park on 18 August, 2013.
