Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory extends condolences to family of Ilse Naude

31 December, 2011 – On behalf of our Founder, Chairperson, Trustees and Staff we wish to extend our deepest condolences to the family of Ilse Naude who passed away on Thursday at the age of 98.

Google to help digitise Madiba and Tutu archives

March 8, 2011 – Google has today announced a $1,25 million (ZAR 8,6 million rand) grant to the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory, housed at the Nelson Mandela Foundation, that will help to preserve and give unprecedented digital access to thousands of archival documents, photographs, and audio-visual materials about the life and times of Nelson Mandela.

Help make Nelson Mandela’s retirement peaceful

November 11, 2010 – Nelson Mandela receives at least 4 000 messages a month from people throughout the world. Many of these pay tribute to Mr Mandela and wish him well in his retirement.  However, there are just as many requests: for his signature, a message of support, a public appearance or an interview. There are also continued injunctions for him to intervene in struggles around the world, and to endorse various causes.

Children from Nelson Mandela’s villages wish him happy birthday

July 17, 2010 – Ninety-two children from two of Nelson Mandela’s childhood villages in the Transkei travelled to Johannesburg to wish him happy birthday today.

The children, 67 from Mr Mandela’s birthplace of Mvezo, and 25 from the village of Qunu, where he moved to later in his childhood, met him at his Houghton home, where they got to meet him and to sing happy birthday to him.

Zenani Mandela Funeral

June 16, 2010 – The Nelson Mandela Foundation would like to advise members of the public that they will be able to attend the funeral service tomorrow of Zenani Mandela.

Statement regarding death of Zenani Mandela

June 13, 2010 – We have decided to issue this statement on behalf of the Mandela family to clarify the position regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Zenani Mandela on Friday.

The car involved in the accident on the M1 was driven by Sizwe Mankazana, 23. He is the son of Zwelakhe Mankazana, the partner of Zenani Mandela-Dlamini. The only passengers in the car were Zenani junior and a member of Sizwe’s family.
