10 February, 2012 – Saturday 11 February 2012 marks the 22nd anniversary of Nelson Mandela’s release from prison after more than 27 years of incarceration.
That moment symbolised the unwinding of a centuries-old colonial and apartheid system that created huge political, social and economic disparities. As President Jacob Zuma pointed out in his State of the Nation address on 9 February 2012, there is still much work to done.
Launch of Ukutya Kwasekhaya: Tastes from Nelson Mandela’s Kitchen
2 February, 2012 – Lauded by members of his family for her service to Nelson Mandela, his personal chef, Xoliswa Ndoyiya, today launched her cookery book.
Ukutya Kwasekhaya: Tastes from Nelson Mandela’s Kitchen contains a collection of more than 60 recipes Ms Ndoyiya has made for him and his family in the last 19 years.

2 February, 2012 – Today we are marking the 22nd anniversary of President FW de Klerk’s historic announcement that Nelson Mandela would be freed and political organisations would be unbanned.
Mandalas for Mandela
29 January, 2012 – “Mandala” is the Sanskrit word for “circle”. It is often associated with the quest for peace and healing. In many cultures it is used to help to find a spiritual centre. In 2011 Brenda Devar-Sakellarides of The Joburg Arts Alive International Festival commissioned Imbali Visual Literacy Project to implement the school art project Mandalas for Mandela in partnership with the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory and Constitution Hill.
Former President Mandela’s sister passes away
29 January, 2012 – It is with great sadness that the Mandelas learned last night of the death of Nothusile Bhulehluthi (nee Nokuthamba Mandela), a family elder and the last surviving sibling of Nkosi Dalibhunga, the former President Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela.
Former President Mandela returns to Johannesburg
28 January 2012 – Former President Nelson Mandela will return to his home in Johannesburg on Sunday 29 January 2012, as routine maintenance has to be undertaken at his Qunu home in the Eastern Cape.
