About the Youth Community Dialogues
The Youth Community Dialogues were a series of events held in South Africa in 2007, funded by the Nelson Mandela Foundation. The series led up to the 46664 concert on December 1, 2007, World AIDS Day.
Nine dialogue events were held nationally, one in each province. Young people were encouraged to discuss problems around HIV/AIDS in their community and to suggest solutions. A mural was painted on a public wall after each event, recording the commitments made during the dialogue by the participants.
