The Fifth Annual Lecture 2007

The 2007 Annual Nelson Mandela Lecture was delivered by Mr Kofi Annan on Sunday July 22 at the University of Witwatersrand’s Education Campus in the Linder Auditorium. It was attended by a wide-ranging audience of about 1 500 invited guests.

The lecture was broadcast on South African television and radio. A webcast of the lecture is also available via TelenorTiscali UK, Tiscali Italy and Comcast. Over 4000 viewers watched the webcast between July and September 2007.

Now in its fifth year, the Nelson Mandela Annual Lecture has developed into a prestigious public lecture, attracting some of the best intellectual voices in the world, and adding to the larger public dialogue on critical social issues.

Previous speakers at the Annual Nelson Mandela Lecture are: President Bill Clinton (2003), Archbishop Desmond Tutu (2004), Professor Wangari Mathai (2005) and President Thabo Mbeki (2006).
