Making Peace Exhibition

About the Event

The Making Peace exhibition explores the relationship between two extraordinary leaders, Chief Albert Luthuli and Nelson Mandela, and the role of peacemaking in a South African context.

Chief Luthuli was the leader of the African National Congress (ANC) when the organisation decided to embark on an armed struggle against the apartheid regime. Nelson Mandela was the ANC’s leader, three decades later, as the organisation negotiated a peace settlement with the regime. Both men won Nobel Peace Prizes.

President William J Clinton will be the keynote speaker at the opening of the exhibition in Mandela House, on July 19, 2007.
