Making Peace

Making Peace was launched at the Nelson Mandela Foundation in July 2007. The exhibition explores the relationship between former ANC presidents and Nobel Peace Prize recipients Chief Albert Luthuli and Nelson Mandela through pictures and text. It is a celebration of the legacies of Chief Luthuli and Mr Mandela.

Comic Series tells the story of Nelson Mandela’s life through comics to encourage young South Africans to read and engage with their history. The exhibition was launched in July 2008 at the Department of Education in Pretoria, where it was displayed until January 2010.

On 27 March 2012 the Nelson Mandela digital archive was launched at the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory. The archive celebrates global access to photos, videos, letters and personal documents about the life and times of Mr Mandela on a digital platform.

Peter Magubane is one of South Africa’s most distinguished photojournalists. Born in Johannesburg in 1932, Magubane embarked on a career in photography in the early 1950s; a line of work that led him into the heart of the anti-apartheid struggle, where he was shot, banned and held in solitary confinement.
