Shipping Research Bureau (SRB)

The Shipping Research Bureau was a specialist organisation, mainly dealing with research into the oil trade with South Africa and alerting the world to breaches of the UN oil embargo. It pressured national governments to adopt sanctions against South Africa. It was founded by the KZA and the Working Group Kairos in 1980 and continued till 1995.

The main archives are currently at the offices of NIZA and the intention is to house them with the IISG.

The IISH also holds archival materials covering the period 1982-1993 and they contain mainly reports.

The UWC/RIM Mayibuye Archives holds a substantial collection covering the period 1979-1992. It contains newsletters, publications, campaign materials relating to the Dutch oil embargo against South Africa.
